1. To access the Windows services list, press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
2. Press W to bring up the services list and look for Windows Audio.
3. When you right-click on Windows Audio, choose Properties from the context menu.
4. Navigate to the “Log on” tab in the Properties box.
5. Select This account and make sure that Local Service with Password is selected.
Note: If you don’t know the password, you can type a new one and click OK to save the changes. You can even click the Browse button, then the Advanced button. Now, select the Find Now option, then choose LOCAL SERVICE from the search results, and finally click OK.
6. Click Apply, then OK to save your changes.
7. If you cannot save changes, you must first change the settings for another service called Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
8. When you right-click on Windows Audio Endpoint Builder, choose Properties from the context menu. Navigate to the “Log on” tab now.
9. From the “Logon” tab, select the Local System account.
10. To save changes, click Apply, then Ok.
11. Try changing the Windows Audio settings from the “Log on” page again, and you should be successful this time.
Method 1: Start Windows Audio services
1. Open the Windows services list, press Windows key + R, and type services.msc then press Enter.
2. Find the following services:
Windows Audio Windows Audio Endpoint Builder Plug and Play
3. Verify that their Startup Type is set to Automatic and that the services are operational; if not, restart them.
4. If the Startup type isn’t Automatic, double-click the services in the property window and change it to Automatic.
Please keep in mind that to set the service to Automatic, you may need to stop it by clicking the Stop button. Then, to re-enable the service, click the Start button.
5. Now, press Windows Key + R, type msconfig, and press Enter to open System Configuration.
6. In the System Settings window, go to the Services tab and check the boxes next to the services listed above.
7. Restart your computer to make the changes take effect.
Method 2: Start Windows Audio Components
1. Press Windows key + R and type services.msc
2. Locate and double-click the Windows Audio service to open its properties window.
3. Expand the components listed under “This service is dependent on the following system components” on the Dependencies tab.
4. Check that all of the components mentioned above are Started & Running in the services.msc
5. At last, restart the Windows Audio services and reboot to apply the changes.

Method 3: Uninstall Sound drivers
1. Download and install CCleaner.
2. Navigate to the left-hand Registry pane, then scan for all problems and let it resolve them.
3. Press Windows Key + R to open Device Manager, then type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
4. Expand Sound, video, and game controllers, then right-click and select Uninstall on the sound device.
5. Confirm the uninstall by clicking OK.

1. Start your anti-virus software and go to the virus vault.
2. In the system tray, right-click Norton Security and select “View Recent History.”
3. Select “Quarantine” from the Show drop-down menu.
4. Look for the Audio device or services that have been quarantined within Quarantine or the virus vault.
5. Now, look for the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROL and if the registry key ends in:
AUDIOSRV.DLL
AUDIOENDPOINTBUILDER.DLL
6. Restore them & restart to see the changes take effect.

Method 5: Modify Registry key
1. To open Registry Editor, press Windows Key + R, type Regedit and hit Enter.
2. After that, in the Registry Editor, navigate to the below key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AudioEndPointBuilder\Parameters
3. Locate ServicDll, & if the value is %SystemRoot%\System32\Audiosrv.dll, this is the cause of the issue.
4. Replace this for the default value under Value data:
%SystemRoot%\System32\AudioEndPointBuilder.dll
5. Restart your computer to apply the modifications.
Method 6: Run Audio Troubleshooter
1. Simply, Press Windows Key + I to open Settings, then select Update & Security.
2. From the left-hand menu, choose Troubleshoot.
3. Now, under the heading “Get up and running,” select Playing Audio.
4. Select “Run the troubleshooter” under Playing Audio.
5. Try the troubleshooter’s suggestions; if any problems are found, grant the troubleshooter access to resolve the Audio services not responding error.
